I am a university-educated secondary teacher (University of Michigan/University of California Berkeley/Parsons School of Design NYC).
So, I know what I'm doing most of the time.
I left the hallowed halls of traditional institutions of learning long ago, because I don't want anybody to be the boss of me.
I also decided that I would always make my living in art activites of some kind, or starve trying.
That has worked out well.
I have spent many years owning galleries and graphic design firms in San Francisco and Santa Fe.
I am a professional illustrator and photographer.
I was a beta tester for Photoshop Version 1.0, and a pioneer in digital art processes and digital photography.
And I was one of the first artists to offer online workshops.
I have been blessed with many gifts in this life, but I think the most valuable is an ability to simplify complicated things, and then explain them to others in words and pictures that are easy to understand.
Whether it is how to draw and paint, how to shoot amazing photographs, how to create illustrated art journal pages, how to use Photoshop, or how to use your iPad as an incredible, portable, art-making studio, I seem to be able to get the point across.
And this is a good thing because I love to share the creative endeavors that bring such great joy into my own life.
I look forward to meeting you.
